After Care

Directions to a Healthy Tattoo

Electric Color land Tattoo Care Sheet

Now that you have a fresh tattoo, it’s important to care for it properly. From this point forward, your artist is not responsible for any infection or complications resulting from improper aftercare.

  • Leave your bandage on for at least 2–3 hours. Remove and discard it; do not re-bandage the tattoo.
  • Wash the tattoo gently with antibacterial soap, such as Dial or Soft-soap. Use the hot/cold method: begin with warm water, gradually increase to hot water, then finish with cold water.
  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub.
  • Repeat this cleaning method a few hours after your tattoo appointment, then again before bed or the following morning.
  • Apply a light layer of water-based ointment or lotion. Suitable options may include A&D ointment, Aveeno lotion, Vaseline Intensive Care, or Jergens.
  • Do not use alcohol, scented lotions, or Neosporin.
  • Keep your tattoo clean and lightly moisturized with lotion or your preferred ointment 2–3 times daily for two weeks.
  • Quick showers are recommended. Use antibacterial soap and avoid soaking the tattoo.
  • Some antibiotics may cause a tattoo to reject. If you are taking antibiotics or have concerns, please speak with your artist.
  • Avoid swimming pools, lakes, and hot tubs for two weeks.

Tattoos typically heal within two weeks to one month. If you have sensitive skin or allergies, please choose aftercare products that work best for your skin.

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact your artist.
